The largest museum in Alaska, the Anchorage museum presents over 20 art exhibitions each year to more than 200,000 visitors. From Alaskan art and culture to some of the most famous works from around the globe, the Anchorage Museum celebrates creative expression in all its forms.

Art of the North

The Art of the North galleries feature landscapes, portraits and contemporary works reflecting Alaska and the circumpolar north. The galleries slowly change as the museum adds new works, or as sensitive works are rotated off display.

Affiliates
The museum was founded by the Cook Inlet Historical Society. The society’s collection of 2,500 historical and cultural objects and thousands of photographs, maps and rare books makes up a large portion of the museum’s history collection. Bringing the physical and natural world to your fingertips

An art and history museum since its inception, the Anchorage Museum has added a third prong to its mission: science. The expanded museum features stimulating, hands-on exhibits focused on earth, life and physical science.

Imaginarium Discovery Center
Alaska’s only hands-on science center allows people of all ages to explore physics and the natural world. The Imaginarium Discovery Center also includes a gallery designed for ages five and younger where families can explore art, history and science through play.
